We are proud to offer significant upgrade products for the Land Pride SPL0548 and SPL0560 Snow Pushers. We offer both rubber and UHMW edges and other products to reduce the surface abrasion and pavement damage caused by the snow pushers steel wear edge and shoes.
We offer three different grades of products to help meet all customers needs. Here are important ordering details about these product offerings.
When you order a “Edge”, you receive the edge selected and the hardware to install it along with the installation instructions. Edges are usually ordered to replace an existing edge of the same type (rubber or UHMW, etc) due to the edge being worn or damaged. If you order an Edge, it does NOT include the mounting strap to install the edge on your pusher. The Edge is most often ordered as a replacement for an edge of the same type.
When you order an “Edge Kit”, you receive the edge selected, the wear grade and type of material of edge as well as the mounting strap and hardware to install the edge kit. Edge Kits are ordered by those changing their snow pusher from steel to UHMW or rubber edges. Edge Kits are everything needed to remove the steel wear edge and replace it with either rubber or UHMW.
90% of customers order the Edge Kit at their first order so they can switch from the steel edge damaging their pavement to the our low friction edge to protect their pavement.
Competition, check edge height, thickness and whether its double edged.
Make sure to note the size of others edge material height and thickness. Beware of edges sold that are 3/16” thick, or are 1/4” thick. This is far too thin for a pusher of this size. Our minimum edge material is 1/2” for these implements as 75% of the edges and kits we sell are 3/4” thick.
When comparing other edges, make sure to compare these important details;
What is the thickness of the material being used?
Is the hardware included in the price or sold extra?
Are others edges double sided to extend wear life?
How tall if the wear edge? Many are 3” tall where our minimum wear edge is 4” tall and we offer a 6” tall edge 3/4” thick for these snow pushers.
Our thinnest UHMW is 1/2” which will provide much longer wear life and also will resist any damage much better than the 3/16” or 1/4” often sold by others.
Snow Pusher Product Sizes for Land Pride Snow Pushers
Residential Duty Snow Pusher edges
Our Residential Duty Rubber and UHMW Snow Pusher Edge is 4” tall, 1/2” thick. This is a basic edge which is made to provide a single side wear edge.
Heavy Duty Snow Pusher edges
Heavy duty rubber and UHMW snow pushers edge is 4” tall and 3/4” thick, 50% thicker than the Residential edge. This is a single side edge wear edge for these pushers.
Extreme Duty Snow Pusher edges
Our rubber and UHMW Extreme Duty snow pusher edge for the Land Pride Snow pushers are 6” tall and 3/4” thick, providing the extra 2” of height. The Extreme duty edges in both rubber and UHMW are double sided, which means when the first side is worn down from use, you can unbolt the edge, flip it over and reinstall it with an entirely new wear edge on the pusher.
Being taller and thicker the Extreme Duty Pusher edge will last twice as long as our Heavy Duty Pusher edge and 4 times or longer than the Standard Duty edge. This long wear life and double sided benefit make this our second best selling edge category for pushers and plows.
Snow Pusher Edge Duty Grades,
Residential, Heavy Duty and Extreme Duty
Our Residential snow pusher edges in either rubber or UHMW are designed for use by the customer who clears snow from their own driveway which is of typical size. About 25% of our customers order Residential duty rubber or UHMW snow pusher edges.
Heavy Duty snow pusher edges are our most popular, and ordered by about 50% of our customers. These are designed for customers clearing their driveway and perhaps a few neighbors driveways as well. The Heavy Duty snow pusher will outlast the residential duty edge by nearly 50% longer wear life, yet its priced just a small amount more than the Residential edges. Its also a better value than our Residential edge due to its size.
Extreme Duty snow pushers are ordered by 25% of our customers who either like the best equipment for their use, or they have a need for an edge which can handle higher volumes of snow clearing. Extreme duty edges are purchased by homeowners, schools, hospitals, assisted living facilities, etc.
Snow Pusher Edge Material, Rubber or UHMW, which is best for your needs?
Rubber is quiet, smooth, clears the pavement very well and also handles different surfaces better than any other edge material. Rubber pusher edges will wear very well if the rubber is of the correct density and weight.
You can push snow with a rubber pusher edge on grass and lawn areas, pavement, stone or gravel and a wide variety of surfaces. Rubber edges are much more forgiving to learn how to use.
When used as directed, rubber edges are very popular and highly regarded. Rubber edges are ordered about 65% of the time.
UHMW Pusher edges are best for scraping hard packed snow, ice and for surfaces which are paved. They are ordered about 35% of the time. You should not use UHMW on lawn or grass areas as the pavement will be damaged. Here is a list of the pavements or surfaces best suited for each type of snow pusher edge.
Pavement with extensive surface cracks, uneven surfaces, previous repairs, expansion joints, asphalt sealers, bricks, pavement with decorative surfaces should consider using the rubber pusher edges.
New pavement without any decorative finish or pavement which is very smooth and consistent can use a UHMW edge with very good results.
Snow Pusher Shoes are Best when made of UHMW
Snow Pusher Shoes are best made of UHMW to provide a low friction surface and to make the pusher glide smoothly and push easily during use. Steel shoes damage the pavement where UHMW shoes are quiet and are significantly lower in surface friction than are steel shoes. We don’t make the shoes out of rubber as rubber grips and cleans the surface where when used as shoes, we simply want the least friction and not surface damage or abrasion.
Hardware shipped with our Edges or Edge Kits
Whether you order an Edge or an Edge Kit, your order will ship with the following hardware;
SPL0548 is the 48” wide pusher. It ships with 8 carriage bolts that are corrosion resistant,. 8 flat washers, 8 lock washers and 8 nuts
SPL0560 is the 60” wide pusher. It ships with 10 carriage bolts that are corrosion resistant, 10 flat washers, 10 lock washers and 10 nuts.
Mounting Straps, steel or optional UHMW straps
Mounting Straps are ONLY included when you purchase an Edge Kit. The mounting straps are steel and have square holes to hold the shanks on the carriage bolts. They are powder coated black. Mounting straps made of UHMW are also available as an option. The UHMW Mounting straps are made of extremely strong UHMW plastic which doesn’t rust, is very hard to break, flexes and avoids bending and are also lighter weight. If you want a UHMW mounting strap, please select it as an option.
While we try to maintain inventory of the most common selections, some pusher edges may be produced when the order is received. Please allow for 12 to 15 business days for production of some edge sizes or material combinations.
