Our 63” UHMW Wear Bar replaces the Kubota wear bar part number 70060-03421

Our Custom made UHMW shoes replace the Kubota steel shoes which are part number 77700-02283

Why replace the steel wear bar and shoes with our UHMW Products? Simple, to protect your pavement from surface wear and abrasion damage.

Heavy Duty UHMW Pavement Protection Kit

Severe or Extreme Duty UHMW Pavement Protection Kit.

Parts are now in production. Below are images of the actual wear bar and shoes for the 63” wide model. These parts will be produced as ordered, so please order with 15 days advance lead time. As the customer demand increases, we will make these kits a stocking item in our inventory.

We make our UHMW products to last, so you can use your Kubota snowblower confidently with the knowledge the entire blower is riding on Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene and the steel wear bar and shoes are no longer touching the pavement.

Ships with custom stainless hardware to in stall the wear bars yet provide maximum clearance of the UHMW wear bar before reaching the hardware. We use special button head bolts which are marine grade stainless and designed to prevent rust and corrosion.

Q.1.- What’s the Difference between our Heavy Duty and Severe/Extreme Duty UHMW Pavement Protection Kits?

A. 1.- Our Heavy Duty Kit includes a under blower wear bar which is 1” thick and machined to recess the mounting hardware well below the surface, so you have UHMW on the pavement under your blower.

Our Severe/ Extreme Duty UHMW wear bar is 1.25” thick for even longer wear life. Our Severe/Extreme Duty UHMW blower shoes are also taller with an additional adjustment position on each side, providing longer wear life on the shoes.

Q. 2.- Does the UHMW wear bar being so much thicker than the steel wear bar, alter the blower function or snow clearing?

A. 2.- We make the wear bar and shoes to increase the blowers stability and to make the blower glide smoothly and quietly across the pavement. The snowblower function is actually improved as many run their blowers with the shoes set down low and the wear bar off the pavement, trying to stop the damage to the surface from the steel shoes and wear bar. Our wear bar cleans the surface extremely well.

The additional height of our wear bar leaves a slightly taller edge on the snow where the blower stops due to the wear bar height. But its a minimal difference of an inch or less and customers comment about how much smoother and quieter the blower is, they are thrilled with the way the blower works with the UHMW shoes and wear edge.

Which Pavement Protection Kit is right for you?

The Heavy Duty Pavement Protection Kit is designed for

  • Years of residential snow clearing use.

  • The HD UHMW shoes are double sided, so they can be flipped over and you have a new wear edge when the first wear edge is worn.

  • The HD UHMW wear bar is designed to last for several seasons and our wear bar can be reversed front to rear, to get the maximum wear life out of the wear bar and shoes.

The Severe/Extreme Duty Pavement Protection Kit is designed for

  • Extensive snowblower use, including multiple driveways and pavement areas.

  • Perfect for those who use their blower commercially or in the snow clearing for any institution, such as Medical Facilities, Public Buildings, etc.

  • Ideal for municipal sidewalk clearing and pavement clearing for Schools, College grounds, extensive pavement clearing use

  • Or for the Kubota owner who demands the very best.

Installation time for your UHMW Pavement Protection Kit

The total installation time is going to vary based upon a few factors such as the age of your blower, its condition, your mechanical aptitude and mechanical skills. On a 1 to 10, with one being as simple as could be and 10 being a very complex mechanical project (engine rebuilt, etc) installing our Pavement Protection kit should score about a 2.5 to a 3.

It’s really just a matter of removing the original steel wear bar and then installing our new kit. If you plan a total of 90 to 120 minutes, you should have plenty of time.

If you have very good mechanical skills, you should be able to install this kit in 30 to 45 minutes total.

Average mechanical skills, plan on an hour.

If you are new to mechanical projects and learning, plan on the 90 to 120 minutes but also expect there to be extra time.

What tools do you need to install this new Pavement Protection Kit.

You need these basic hand tools to install the Pavement protection Kit

  • Basic Metric Sockets and ratchet, extension , etc.

  • Ideally 3/8 or 1/2” drive

  • 4'“ or 6” extension for the ratchet you are using

  • Combination Metric wrenches - Open end and Box End

  • Allen Head Socket Set or a Torx Head Bolt Kit for new hardware for the wear bar.

  • If you don’t have these specialty sockets, I can send one to fit your installation hardware with your order. Please make sure to request this bit in advance so I can ship it with your hardware kit for easy installation.

Other tools you should have on hand

  • Silicone or a spray lubricant suited for metal hardware. Amsoil’s Metal protector is a great lubricant for such hardware.

  • Penetrating oil or spray, to loosen any of the hardware which has been on the blower for some time.

Specialty Tools You may need in situations where the blowers have extensive winter use and the bolts may be rusty, etc.

  • Impact wrench to remove old hardware which might be corroded

  • Drill bit to drill out the 3/8 plow bolts holding the steel wear edge on your blower. However, make the drlling of the bolts your last resort to remove them.

  • 90 Degree grinder if the bolts are very rusty and need to ground off. This is unusual and I mention because its possible, but grinders are usually needed for blowers that are in poor condition, etc.

The UHMW material triples the blower's pavement support while also eliminating surface abrasion. In summary, when switching from the steel-wear edges and shoes to the UHMW HD Wear edge and shoes the positive benefits and results include

  • The unnecessary damage to the pavement from grinding the steel wear edges into it ceases.

  • A blower that slides quietly and smoothly on the pavement.

  • Much less energy is needed to push the blower.

  • A blower many owners can move by hand on the pavement due to the low friction UHMW to connect to their machines, etc. .

  • Many tractor operators find they can clear snow without tire chains since the blower slides far more easily and requires less HP to push.

  • Some machines can clear snow in 2wd due to the dramatically less resistance to push the blowers

  • No more pavement surface damage or abrasion from the steel wear surfaces

  • No more bolts or steel edges grinding into the pavement

The thickness and width of the UHMW and being double-sided, will likely outlast two sets of the steel wear edges and the steel shoes.

  • No more rust on the garage floor

  • No more damage to the surface

  • Lower pavement maintenance costs

  • Prolonged time between pavement repairs and replacement

  • Win, win , win across the board.

When you order your Pavement Protection Package, here is what you will receive.

A custom machined UHMW wear bar with recessed hardware well below the surface layer to protect your blower and pavement from abrasion damage.

A pair of custom designed UHMW wear shoes, which provide double the wear life of the shoes they replace. Our UHMW wear bars can be installed, adjusted with use to keep the blower square and stable and when the shoes are worn, unbolt the shoes, flip them over and put them back on the blower.

All of our UHMW items include top grade, corrosion resistant hardware to make future adjustments and wear component inversion trouble free.

How Long should these UHMW Kits last?

While we can’t provide wear estimates due to all of the variables, for many, this kit will serve them for many, many years.

The Heavy Duty Pavement Protection Kit

is designed for use clearing residential driveways which are 250’ to 1,500 ft long. You also live in an area where the snow is cleared 25 to 30 times a season. You may clear a neighbors drive in addition to your own.

The Severe Duty Pavement Protection Kit

Is designed for heavy or extensive snow clearing duties. This can include multiple residential driveways or small commercial lots or its use is as a supplemental machine in a commercial snow clearing tasks. This is likely to include clearing a driveway which is 1/8th mile to 1 mile long. You are likely to clear multiple driveways and you live in an area where snow is cleared 35 to 50 times a season, with the average snowfall amount being 6” per clearing.

Use tips for the best snow clearing results and longest use periods for your UHMW shoes and wear bar.

  1. Avoid excessive down pressure on the snowblower during use. Lower the blower to the pavement and when its making pavement contact, make test clearing passes with your blower.

  2. If you are having trouble steering the tractor due to the front wheels sliding or nor responding to your steering input, chances are the down pressure is excessive or the proper ballast weight is missing. Contact us, we can help you find the best balance for the best results.

  3. Lower the blower to the pavement and then stop once the blower is touching the pavement. You can also allow the blower to “float” so the blowers weight in on the pavement. See what works best for you.

  4. Make sure to keep an eye on the wear on your blower shoes and the wear bar underneath. Many blowers clear snow with a “forward tilt bias”, where the front edge of the wear bar and shoes will wear faster than the back half of the shoes and wear bar. If you notice this is happening with your blower, you can flip the wear bar and shoes around and wear the bottom square again. This helps assure the longest wear life and best long term results.

  5. Unless you are using your snowblower often and for large scale snow clearing projects, you likely will only have to make adjustments to your blower once a season.

  6. Have questions or need help? Contact us. We are here to help!
