The Frontier SB1280 uses a bolt on steel wear bar, which Deere sells under their part number 5RD669013. They also offer a Tivar edge kit under part number 5RDF0097 for $728.

The snowblower rides on this steel wear bar, along with the steel shoes on your pavement when clearing snow. The steel wear bar and shoes are very abrasive on the pavement and cause extensive damage to the pavement over time. In fact you hear the scraping and screeching sound of the steel grinding on the pavement with each movement of your snowblower.

We produce a UHMW wear edge to replace the abrasive steel wear edge. Our Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene wear bar, or also known as UHMW, is an extremely durable material and the lowest surface friction material produced. UHMW is very strong and slides much smoother and with far less friction on your pavement.

What do you get when you order our SB 1280 Snowblower UHMW wear bar and shoe kit?

  • A custom machined UHMW wear bar to replace the steel wear bar on your SB1280 blower.

  • A pair of custom made UHMW shoes to mount to the outside of your blowers steel shoes.

  • We include all corrosion resistant hardware to help you mount the new UHMW wear bar and shoes on your blower.

Can I order just the UHMW wear bar for my SB1280 blower?

Sure, while we certainly suggest you replace both the wear bar and add our bolt on UHMW shoes, we will ship you just the UHMW wear bar with hardware, if that is what you want.

Can I order just the UHMW bolt on shoes and not order the UHMW wear bar?

Yes, but understand, the steel wear bar is responsible for 80%+ of the surface abrasion damage and should always be the objective of replacement first.

How do I order either the UHMW wear bar or the UHMW bolt on shoes but not both as a set?

Please contact us and we will send you an invoice from our website for the specific items you want. We will still have questions for you and will need to make these items for you.

Who is a customer for this Frontier SB1280 UHMW Wear Bar and shoe kit ?

  • Anyone who needs to or desires to replace the steel wear bar on this snowblower.

  • An owner of the snowblower who wants to reduce the surface friction of their snow blower on the pavement.

  • Someone looking to prevent the damage to their pavement

  • A new owner of this blower who doesn’t want to allow the steel shoes and wear bar to cause the friction and damage to their pavement.

What about the surface friction and pavement wear damage caused by the SB1280 Steel blower shoes?

  • The steel blower shoes on this SB1280 are welded to the blower housing.

  • We can produce UHMW blower shoes that will bolt through the steel shoes welded to your blower and will mount on the outside of the existing shoes.

  • The steel welded shoes are a big project to remove from the blower as they have to be cut off the blower with either a grinding wheel, plasma cutter or torch.

  • We make UHMW shoes which can be mounted to the outside of your blowers steel shoes without removing the shoes from the blower.

  • The UHMW shoes will be made to make surface contact with the pavement by extending the UHMW shoes below the steel wear shoes.

  • These UHMW shoes require you to drill holes in the steel shoes on your blower to mount them on the blower.

  • In the end, you can get the blowers steel shoes and wear edge off of your pavement and clear snow with the UHMW shoes and wear bar.

What is the installation process for the UHMW Wear bar and to mount UHMW blower shoes to the steel shoes on your Frontier SB1280 blower?

  • The wear bar unbolts from your blower and is replaced with our new machined wear bar with the hardware included. This is a straight forward process and is simple. This should take 30 minutes or less with normal hand tools.

  • To mount the UHMW blower shoes to your blowers steel shoes will require you to drill holes through the shoes welded to the blower. A total of 3 holes per shoe are required and the hole size is 3/8”. Our UHMW shoes provide the hole drilling template for you.

  • Clamp our UHMW shoes to the welded shoes on your blower and verify the proper placement of the shoe as detailed in the instructions. Mark the holes from the UHMW shoes on the steel welded blower shoes with a marking method (marker, center punch, paint dot, etc)

  • Drill the holes in the shoes with a hand drill. Mount the UHMW shoes to the steel shoes using the hardware provided. Plan on 45 minutes to one hour for drilling the holes and installing these shoes on your blower
