Rubber Plow Edges for Deere 48" Plow, replaces Deere M120139

from $150.00

Includes Free Shipping via Ground Delivery to Lower 48 States

This is our rubber plow edge ONLY for the Deere 48” Front Plows. This rubber is either in the Standard Duty or Heavy Duty Thickness. Corrosion resistant Hardware is included with your purchase.

Standard Duty 48” Plow edge is 4” tall, 1/2” thick

Heavy Duty 48” Plow edge is 4” tall and 3/4” thick for 50% more wear material on the edge.

A full set of Corrosion Resistant Hardware is Included.

This purchase does NOT include the Steel or UHMW Mounting Strap to Secure the Rubber Plow Edge on the Plow. The customer must provide their own clamping strap for properly mounting the rubber edge when ordering this item. They can use the plows steel edge strap if they follow the steps listed below.

Customers purchasing this edge have the following choices to properly secure their rubber plow edge;

  1. Use their plows steel plow edge to hold the rubber on the plow.

  2. Make a mounting strap to secure the rubber edge correctly.

  3. Use Fender Washers to clamp the rubber to the plow.

  4. Fabricate an edge of some type to hold the rubber plow edge. The rubber edge needs a solid material to help the bolts clamp the rubber edge to the plow face. This is the plow owners option, but its paramount that some type of clamping be used to hold the rubber on the plow. Do not simply try to use the carriage bolt heads on the rubber as the rubber won’t properly seat. etc.

  5. Use great care if you plan on using the steel strap from the plow after its been used to clear snow. The strap develops a very sharp wear edge which is razor sharp and dangerous to handle, etc. Also the rubber will be damaged if the sharp edge is allowed to push into the rubber when back dragging snow, etc.

  6. Owners with the worn steel straps can use the straps if they take these steps.

    1. Grind down the sharp edge on the strap so its simply a flat surface which isn’t sharp or places the rubber at risk for being cut.

    2. Use great care when handling the edge, even after removing the knife sharp edge as the worn metal straps are full of “metal splinters” which are very small and very painful to get in your hands, etc.

    3. Paint the steel strap to prevent it from rusting. Several coats are suggested.

    4. Mount the strap with the ground edge facing UP, towards the top of the plow and away from the rubber edge. It protects the edge from possible damage.

    5. Make sure to not use an impact gun on the hardware as it will damage the finish and gall the hardware, causing it to cold weld the hardware. Make sure to lubricate all hardware before either assembly or when disassembling the strap clamp, etc.

    6. Use the proper carriage bolts to fit the shanks of the bolts into the slots on the strap. Deere uses metric hardware, we include SAE hardware with our new rubber edges. Our Hardware will work with the steel plow edge if steps 1 through 6 are taken.

Excessive Down Pressure is Simply excessive and not Helpful in the implements function.

Our plow edges are designed and made to work correctly without excessive hydraulic down pressure. Excessive use of Hydraulic Down Pressure on plow edges results in premature wear on the plow edge and usually does nothing to improve the plows snow clearing performance.

Just as pushing down as hard as you can on a snow shovel handle doesn’t improve the snow clearing results, excess down pressure on the plows also simply wastes energy and wears the edge prematurely. Follow the directions, use correctly and get the best long term wear and snow clearing results.

If you still have questions after reading our enclosed installation and use instructions, call us. We will do what we can to help.
