Back Drag Rubber Edge 5FP1352540 For 108" wide Frontier AS11E

We have been receiving frequent calls or emails from customers about the failure of their Frontier Rubber Back Drag edge. The Frontier edges are breaking across the mounting edge or tearing during use, making the rubber back drag edge non functional. As a result, the entire back drag edge needs to be replaced to restore function to the pusher.

To meet this demand, we now keep these Premium rubber back drag edges in stock in limited numbers, so we can often ship the edge to you within a day or two of when its ordered.

Our edge is superior to the Frontier edge, part number 5FP1352540 in these critical areas.

Our SBS Premium Rubber Back Drag Rubber edge

• is nearly 70% heavier in weight at 48 pounds. The Frontier edge it replaces weighs 29 pounds.

• Our Premium Edge is 104” long, 1” thick and 8” wide. The Frontier Edge is 103.25” long, 1” thick and 8” wide.

• Our Premium Edge is made with two rows of mounting holes, instead of one row of mounting holes down the center of the Frontier rubber it replaces.

• Is double sided, so when worn, the back drag edge can be flipped over and reinstalled so you can use both sides of the back drag edge.

• Our Premium Edge Ships with new Hardware to install the edge so the process is easier.

Optional UHMW Back Drag Edge

We also produce a custom made UHMW Back Drag Edge for those who want to change the back drag edge from a rubber edge to our UHMW Edge.

UHMW material, which is the Ultra High Molecular Weight composite plastic material. This edge is also 8” tall, 1” thick and 108” long to fit the width of your AS11E 108” Back Drag Arm.

The UHMW Back Drag edges are made when ordered, so please allow 7 to 10 business days for the production and shipping of this custom edge

Please note, Frontier does not offer a UHMW Back Drag edge for their AS11E snow pushers. We offer this option because we know from extensive personal use of snow pushers, in some situations, the UHMW back drag edge meets specific needs.

Premium Rubber or UHMW, which Back Drag Edge is Best for your snow clearing needs?

The Premium Rubber back drag edge is ideal for those

• Clearing snow from grass areas or portions of lawns, etc. but care is required to control the back drag arm down pressure.

• When snow is pushed from the pavement onto the grass areas, just make sure to slightly lift the edge as you exit the pavement.

• Seeking a QUIET, low friction material to clear snow.

• If you have brick pavers, colored or imprinted concrete, custom driveway materials or any surface you want to protect against surface abrasion and damage, the Premium Rubber edges are likely the best for your use.

• If your pavement has numerous edge joints between materials, such as brick pavers, landscape blocks or stones we encourage the use of the Premium rubber back drag edge to avoid damaging or displacing the surface materials.

• Desires to also squeegee water and moisture when clearing snow.

• Our Premium Back Drag rubber edge is a great addition to any snow clearing machine.

Our UHMW back drag edge material is ideal If you

• often have hard packed snow or ice and you need to scrape to clear from pavement.

• It’s also well suited to use on traditional concrete or asphalt driveway surfaces.

• The UHMW is also a very low friction material, meaning it doesn’t cause the surface damage of steel when used on any pavement surface.

• Need a long wearing, durable material which wears like a steel edge but without all of the surface friction damage which steel edges inflict on pavement.

• Want to avoid possible rust stains on the pavement.

• We machine our UHMW edges to remove the sharp corners and any points which are likely to damage new asphalt, but we urge extra care until the asphalt has fully cured for one year.

• We suggest you avoid using the UHMW back drag edge on any driveway or exterior surface that could be prone to being easily damaged such as aggregate finishes or any premium driveway finish.

• A custom machined Premium rubber or UHMW edge machined to fit your Frontier AS11E back drag edge for the 108” wide snow pusher.

• The edge is 1” thick, 8” tall and made to fit the 108” wide AS11E back drag arm.

• New Corrosion Resistant Mounting Hardware of 17 Bolts, 17 washers and 17 Lock nuts.

• The Rubber edge is rolled into a circle and shrink wrapped for shipping.

• The UHMW Edge is made in two lengths 54”’ (approx) due to the total 9’ length for manufacturing and shipping. If possible and material availability allows, we will make the piece in one length but please plan on receiving the UHMW edge in two equal lengths for installation.

• We ship you a ready to install product with installation instructions.

If the steel straps which hold your rubber back drag edge are damaged, heavily worn or rusty, etc., we can produce new mounting straps to secure this edge on your snow pusher. We can cut these mounting straps from steel or optional UHMW composite material.

The UHMW Back Drag Edge Should be mounted with steel mounting straps

UHMW is an extremely low surface friction product and is best held on your machines back drag arm using the steel straps. If you need new steel mounting straps for your back drag edge, we can produce them for you.

Steel mounting straps require a powder coating finish to protect them from corrosion, etc and this adds a week to 10 days to their production time if we don’t have the steel straps in stock at the time of your UHMW back drag edge order.

The Rubber Back Drag Edge can be mounted with steel or UHMW Mounting straps.

If the steel straps which are already on your snow pusher to hold the Frontier rubber edge are in good condition, you can use those straps to clamp our Premium Rubber or UHMW edge on your pusher.

If your steel straps are in poor condition or are damaged or missing or rusty, we can make new mounting straps for your back drag edge.

Please note, the mounting straps are an additional purchase item and are not included with EITHER the rubber or UHMW back drag edge when purchased.

Important differences between the Steel and

UHMW Back Drag edge mounting straps include;

Steel Edge Mounting Straps

• Less expensive than UHMW, but require powder coating or painting.

• These often will twist and can bend with use.

• Will become chipped and the finish will require seasonal painting or other finishing to stop rust and corrosion from breaking down the steel material.

• ‍These straps will rust and over time, will require maintenance or could ultimately require replacement.

Ultra High Molecular Weight Composite Material (UHMW) Straps

• Solid dense and very strong plastic material

• Much lighter in weight than steel straps.

• More costly than steel straps due to higher material costs, but once installed, no more action is required.

• Easier to install and make adjustments with as they are lighter and don’t twist and distort over time as steel straps will.

• Machined to fit the mounting on your back drag edge

• Can’t rust, won‘t chip or require any painting or finishing.

• A solid material which can absorb some impacts and other loads which will twist and damage the steel straps.

• We make the UHMW straps thicker and wider than the steel straps they replace to provide larger clamping area on the rubber edge. On the Frontier AS11E snow pusher, our back drag edge UHMW straps are 1” thick and the same width as the steel back drag straps which came on the pusher.
